make me pretty – stenciled dresser

October 16, 2012

One day I was walking my boys threw the alleys of my neighborhood, Jasper had just found a Playmobile pirate ship next to a dumpster and was super excited. We turned a corner and I saw these two dressers. One of my neighbors was kneeling in front of them and I thought they were spoken for but it ends up he just wanted the hardware. I went straight home and recruited my husband to load the dressers in the car. He delivered one to a friend who had been looking for a low dresser to use as a changing table. The tall one was all mine.

This would be the perfect piece to try out my new furniture stencil on. Royal Design Studio has a whole line of furniture stencils. They are smaller scale to fit well on furniture pieces. You can order from their website but they also sell their stencils on Etsy.

I love the way it turned out but I have to be honest, stencils are kind of a pain in the butt. Maybe I am just too much of a perfectionist but I had to spend a lot of time going back and touching everything up. But I guess it was all worth it because I sold the dresser within a week of putting it in my booth at the West End Antiques Mall. Pretty awesome!
